About this calculator
Beyond basic arithmetic, this calculator adds trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), logarithms (log base 10 and natural log), powers, square roots, parentheses for grouping, and the constants π and e.
Use the DEG/RAD toggle to switch how trigonometric functions interpret angles — degrees (0–360°) or radians (0–2π) — before calculating sin, cos or tan.
Parentheses let you control the order of operations directly, e.g. 2×(3+4) or sin(30+15) — type the full expression and press = to evaluate.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between DEG and RAD?
It sets how the trigonometric functions read your input. In DEG mode a right angle is 90; in RAD mode the same angle is about 1.5708 (pi divided by 2). Switch mode before calculating sin, cos or tan, since the same number gives very different answers in each.
Why does sin(90) give 1 in one mode and a different number in the other?
Because 90 degrees is a quarter turn and gives exactly 1, while 90 radians is over fourteen full turns and lands somewhere else entirely. If a trig answer looks wrong, the mode toggle is almost always the reason.
