Length, weight, temperature and volume conversions.
About this calculator
Length, weight and volume conversions all work the same way: your value is converted to a common base unit (metres, kilograms or litres) using each unit's conversion factor, then converted from that base unit into your target unit.
Temperature is different — it needs a formula rather than a simple multiplication, since 0° doesn't mean “nothing” the way 0kg does, so this calculator converts via Celsius as an intermediate step for Fahrenheit and Kelvin.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9, divide by 5, then add 32. So 20C is 68F. Going the other way, subtract 32 first, then multiply by 5 and divide by 9.
How many kilometres is a mile?
One mile is about 1.609 kilometres, so a kilometre is roughly 0.621 miles. A quick mental estimate is to multiply miles by 1.6.
